12-18-2016 Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report

Late December and early January are traditionally the time of year when often the single largest bass of the year is caught. I am talking about fish in the 10 to 12plus pound range, and these fish always fall prey to a live wild shiner. Lake Okeechobee has always been the premier bass fishing lake in the US and still is, there are many great fishing spots in this country but none can match the output of bass days after day that Okeechobee provide. It's cold up North, where would you rather be? if your a fisherman your answer is probably in Florida sitting on Lake Okeechobee fishing for the biggest Bass of your lifetime. Lake Okeechobee is known for great speckled perch (crappie) fishing as well. We are catching 25 fish limits of these most tasty panfish daily. We normally fish with small jigs made locally be a friend of ours that is known to be irresistible to large specks. If you want to schedule a panfish trip give a call and we can either bass fish or speck fish, you make the call.

'Charles Rosens partner Cpt Jim had to return home lasty night so Charles had to catch all of the fish himself today. He had one of the best fishing days imaginable. He caught a 7 pound 2 oz bass, a 9 pound 1 oz bass, and a 10 pound bass. The 2 fish he is holding in the picture are the 9lb 1oz and the 10, he caught them on consecutive casts. What an incredible fishing day! Lake Okeechobee 12-18-11'
