Big Fish Bonanza!

The big fish showed up this weekend , and in a big way, I had a half day trip with Fred & Sheila Schlasly of Miami. In our 4 hours of fishing we caught 29 bass on live wild shiners. In the last 4 days there have been numerous large fish caught, a 10lber, two 9lbers, three 8lbers and too many sevens to mention all caught on live wild shiners.

Not to leave out the artificial bite, it was kicking too! Saturday marked the first Christian team Tournament held since the hurricane and it was big! The winning bag was 32 lbs plus, second was 28lbs plus and the big catches continued down the line. Sunday the HeadTurners3 tournament trail kicked off from Okeetantie and the results were impressive as well. The winning sack was once again 32lbs plus, second was 25lbs, third 23lbs, and right on down the line with impressive catches. The schooling fish made a showing for the first time since the storm and were found in numerous places from Tin House Cove to Indian Prairie Canal. These fish were easy to catch when they came up, chasing tiny shad, just throw a rattling crankbait at them and hold on. Once these fish went down they could be caught on a variety of plastic baits.
